Sharonne Katz

Senior Director, Energy Systems, Natural Resources Canada

Sharonne is the Senior Director of the Clean Electricity Project Division within the Energy Systems Sector at Natural Resources Canada.  Over the past 20 years in the public service, Sharonne held various roles ranging from: innovation/commercialization policy, to the development of legislation (Investment Canada Act), to the restructuring of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, to leading Phoenix training, to facilitating major projects, including certain Nova Gas Transmission Limited System.  

Sharonne and her team work closely with the Maritime provinces and utilities to advance their clean electricity priorities. Her team is also responsible for the $250M Electricity Predevelopment Program (EPP). 

Sharonne has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick, a Bachelor of Arts (Sports Coaching) from the University of Winnipeg, and a Bachelor in Physical Education from the University of Manitoba.  Sharonne and her husband James have two teenaged daughters and two feline fur babies.  Since the beginning of the pandemic, she has walked/hiked over 4,000 KM with various colleagues and friends. Sharonne is an avid hobby potter, with a full home studio (wheel, kiln, etc.).
